What is permanent makeup?

  • Permanent makeup is a cutting edge beauty treatment. It is also called Micropigmentation or cosmetic tattooing and used for natural correction of missing hair, shape or definition.  Hypoallergenic, medical grade pigments are infused into the dermal layer of skin producing a soft natural  effect .Permanent makeup also known as permanent makeup is a definitive beauty enhancement treatment. The procedure is permanent because the pigment colour fades over time.

Who is it suitable for?

  • Anyone over 18 years of age.

  • Women who find that a little help to enhance their beauty gives them a lot of confidence.

  • Anyone who wants to look at their best anytime or anywhere.

  • Anyone who does not want to apply makeup every morning.

  • People with alopecia.

  • People with  sparse eyebrows.

How long does the treatment take?

  • Permanent makeup is a two stage procedure. The first procedure itself normally takes approximately 1.5 hours. If one includes the consultation and creating the design , 2.5 hours should be allowed. The second touch up procedure which normally takes place within 4-8 weeks after the first procedure lasts approximately 1.5 hours.

How long do the results last?

  • Permanent makeup’s lasting effects can vary from person to person, depending on age, skin type, sun exposure and the type of pigments that are used. It should last for several years. The procedure needs a “top up” as the colour fades over years. Normally between 18-24 months. Many procedures last up to 3 years sometimes longer with little or no intervention.

Is permanent make up safe?

  • Yes- it is safe and medically approved. The pigments are made from natural minerals that are selected as safe, nontoxic and hypoallergenic . The strictest hygiene and sanitation procedures are carried out. Health and welfare are very important. Patch tests of pigments are available prior to the full treatment.

Are there any risks?

  • Because this is an invasive procedure there are risks. These include undesired results in colour, allergic reactions, infection, or scaring. Adhering to all safe and safety guidelines, using a reputable brand pigments and having many years of experience (which Selen has) ensures that any risks are minimised.

Does it hurt?

  • It varies from one person to another. Some clients feel no discomfort at all. Topical anaesthetics are applied to control pain tolerance. Clients say that having a procedure done is similar to having their eyebrows being plucked. The procedure is performed with your comfort and wellbeing in mind at all times.

How will I look straight after the procedure?

  • The colour will be most visible and considerably darker when the procedure is first carried out. This will diminish during the healing process which is normally between 5-10 days. The treatment area will lighten about 30% and in many cases. There may be some lightly pigmented areas, this is why a second touch up treatment will be carried out usually a month later to ensure that the colour settles down to the desired effect. There may also be some reddening or swelling which will subside within a few hours normally. It is advisable to avoid any important events shortly after the procedure.

Will it look natural?

  • This will to an extent depend on the amount of hair one already has and the type of skin. The end result often looks very natural. Your permanent makeup will look more dramatic for the first 3-5 days.
